He was predeceased by: his parents, John Clifton and Ruth Stephenson Edwards; his brother Stephen Edwards; his parents-in-law, George and Francis Smither; and his brother-in-law Frederick William Greene.
He is survived by: his wife Diane Smither Edwards; his children, Jonathan David Edwards and Amanda Edwards Rusmisell (Jay); his grandsons, Elijah Dakota Edwards, Maxwell David Rusmisell and Bennett James Rusmisell; his sister Elizabeth Edwards Cox (family: John Lee Edwards); his sister-in-law Carole Smither Greene; his nieces, Ashlynn Greene Kelker and Alicia Ann Greene; and his great-nieces, Katherine Kelker, Allison Kelker and Morgan Greene-Haines.
