He was predeceased by: his parents, William "Alan" Matthews and Pamela Jones Matthews; his grandparents, Bobby Joe Matthews, Gladys Collins Matthews, Dwight Audie Jones and Barbara Edwards Jones; his great-grandparent Rhodie Edwards; his great-uncle James Edwards; and his great-aunt Dot Edwards.
