It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Wilford Junior Sumner of Mount Airy, North Carolina, born in Surry, Virginia, who passed away on August 25, 2021, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilford Sumner and Cora Thomas Sumner; and his son Billy Wayne Sumner (Kimberly Sumner). He is survived by: his wife Georgia Simpson Sumner; his daughters, Terry Sumner of Mount Airy and Mary; his son-in-law Darrell Danley of Mount Airy; his sons, Rickie (Janet Sumner), Jerry (Kathy Sumner) and Bobby Sumner of Mount Airy; his grandchildren, Kevin Sumner, Donna Stanley, Tabatha Casstevens, Teirraha Lowe, Deanna Dickens, Zack Deel, Richard Sumner, Ronnie Sumner, Jordan Sumner, Ashley Gregory, Heather Thompson, Michael Davis, Jr., Taran Beshers, Hunter Danley, Cory Sumner and Courtney Hill; and his brother Harvey Leroy Sumner of Mount Airy. He is also survived by several great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren.
