It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Thomas East (Mount Airy, North Carolina), born in Surry, Virginia, who passed away on May 1, 2020, at the age of 67, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilburn East and Mary Inez McMillian East; his children, Thomas Aaron East and April Dawn East; and his sons-in-law, Gayle Pike and Jimmy Ray "J. R.".
He is survived by: his wife Jewel Flinchum East; his children, Angela East McRoberts of Lowgap and Tim; his daughter-in-law Windy East of Mount Airy; his grandchildren, Justin Pike of Lowgap and Dawn Pike of Lowgap; his stepgrandchildren, Beau Taylor of Mount Airy, Brianna Taylor of Mount Airy and Nevaeh; and his siblings, Rachel Marion, Ruby George, Jewell (Bill Faw), Billie Jo (Mickey Bouldin), Diane (Gary Barnes), Mary Lina East Wall, Ruth Louise East Creed, Candis Magdalene East Creed, Junior East, Johnny East and Denny East. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Due to the limitations of numbers for public gatherings at this time (COVID-19), a private graveside service will be held at Bryant's Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.
