She was predeceased by: her parents, Floyd Vaughn and Pauline Vernon Vaughn; and her brother Gary Vaughn. She is survived by: her daughter Emily; her son-in-law Jim Smithson of Chesapeake, VA; her son Jeffrey Dawson of Cana, Virginia; her grandchildren, Laurel Smithson, B. J., Connor and Jesse Smithson; her brother Eddie; her sister-in-law Helen Vaughn of Cana, VA; her sister Phyllis; and her brother-in-law Buddy Easter of Mt. Airy, NC..

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Stroke Association.
