It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Shelby Dean Badgett Nichols of Mount Airy, North Carolina, born in Surry, Virginia, who passed away on December 17, 2023, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Howard Glenn and Annie Taylor Badgett; her husband Roger Lewis Nichols; and her son Gary Lewis Nichols. She is survived by: her sons, Timothy M. Nichols of Winston-Salem, James A. (Jill H. Nichols) and Samuel J. (Tina S. Nichols); her grandchildren, Matthew, Megan Simpson, Andrew Simpson, Jessy Nichols, Jake Nichols, Morgan, Jarod Wilson, Alexandra, Austin Crissman, Emma and Austin Jarrell; her great grandchildren, Rosie Simpson, Wylder Simpson, Hance Wilson, Lainey Wilson and Mason Crissman; her brother Larry W.; and her sister-in-law Peggy M. Badgett.
