She was predeceased by: her parents, Joseph Spicer and Daisy May Harris Spicer; and her husband James Silas Newman. She is survived by: her children, James Michael Newman (Judy) of State Road and Mary Ashley (Billy) of Elkin; her grandchildren, Mark Edwards (Crystal) and Jill Newman; and her great grandchild Anthony Edwards.
