It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Ruth Dunbar Hawks of Mount Airy, North Carolina, born in Surry, Virginia, who passed away on November 29, 2023, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Elmer James and Gladys Ellen Slate Dunbar; and her sister Carole Gentry. She is survived by: her husband David Clayton Hawks; her sons, Jeffery Dale Hawks (Donna) and Charles Bradley Hawks (Delinda); her grandchildren, Joshua Brandon Hawks, Brittany, Justin Paul Hawks and David Lee Hawks; her great grandchildren, Lukcus Hawks, Cheynne Hawks, Dakota Hawks, Ty Hawks, Kali Hawks and Maggie Hawks; and her brothers, Stoney Dunbar (Louise), Ray Dunbar (Sandra) and Ricky Dunbar (Vicki). She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
