He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Kirtless Horton and Nellie Mae Horton; and his siblings, Ruby Parker, Bill Horton, Carrie McMillian, Mahaley Utt and Richard Horton.
He is survived by: his wife Mona Griffin Horton; and his children, Karen Bowers (Rex), Roy Horton, Dee Wilson (Leon), Thomas Horton (Kristi) and Edward Horton (Angela). He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Thursday, January 16th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Moody Funeral Services (206 W Pine St, Mt Airy, NC 27030). A funeral service was held on Thursday, January 16th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Thursday, January 16th 2025 from 4:15 PM to 5:15 PM at the Skyline Memory Gardens (432 Old Buck Shoals Rd, Mt Airy, NC 27030).
