He was predeceased by: his father Pete Owen; his wife Betty Owen; and his brother Bill Owen. He is survived by: his son Patrick; his daughter-in-law Laurie Patrick Owen; his grandsons, Benjamin Snow, Steven Snow and Jacob Owen; his close friend Nitro; his siblings, Paul Owen of Mount Airy, Tommy Owen and Peggy Mchone of Mount Airy; and his close friend Bill Brown.

The family wishes donations be made to the Salvation Army of Mount Airy.
