He was predeceased by: his parents, Ray Melvin Simpson, Sr. and Mazie Sawyers Simpson; his sister Irene S.; his brother-in-law Junior Slate; and his brothers, Charles Simpson and Doug Simpson.
He is survived by: his daughter Lisa; his son-in-law Randy Carlisle; his grandchildren, Benjamin K. Long and Danielle Long; his great grandchild Oliver Long; his stepgrandchildren, Erica, Kelsey and Christopher Carlisle; and his sister-in-law Kathy Simpson.
