He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Hiram and Naomi Crawford Bennett; his son Johnny Sweeney; and his father-in-law Hubert Neal. He is survived by: his wife Ruth Neal Bennett; his children, Joey Bennett (Tabatha Aken), Jimmy Sweeney (Mary), Jackie Lawson (Chris), Joanna Marion (Justin), Aubrianna Bennett and Jeannie Sheppard (Joseph Jamrose); his mother-in-law Meredith Neal; his grandchildren, Jessica Thompson (Chad), Matthew Sheppard (Megan Hess), Hannah Sheppard, David Lawson, Brittney Culler (Nathan), Alex Lawson, Zach Van Hoy, Ian Van Hoy, Tyler Van Hoy, Vinny Marion and Arahy Jamrose; and his close friend Thomas Bowman. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren.
