It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Oscar Hoyle Yokley Jr. of Mount Airy, North Carolina, born in Surry, Virginia, who passed away on October 17, 2021, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Oscar Hoyle Yokley, Sr. and Mary Emily Wilkinson Yokley; his wife Clara Jacqueline Springthorpe Yokley; his siblings, Hale Yokley and Sara Y. Conley; and his son-in-law Wayne Cooke.
He is survived by: his nephew Johnny Yokley; his cousins, Mike Malmo and Bowman George; his children, Mary Emily Cooke, Elizabeth B. Tickle, James F. Yokley and Laura B. Yokley; his grandchildren, Mary Anne Helm, Michael A. Tickle (Becki Hazen), Sonnie C. Hardy (Stan) and Stacy C. Smith; his great grandchildren, Lucian Helm, Zane Hardy, Sophie Smith and Porter Smith; his sister Anne Y. Graves; his siblings-in-law, Sarah S. Denmark and John Springthorpe; and his close friends, Nancy Lovill, Jessie Strickland, Cathy Wiles and Jill Simpson. He is also survived by the birds on his balcony and the cats.
