It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Norman Lee Smith of Mount Airy, North Carolina, born in Surry, Virginia, who passed away on October 3, 2024, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his wife Kathleen Galloway Smith; his granddaughter Jessica Callaghan; his parents, Chares Lawrence and Hallie Norman Smith; and his siblings, Hilda Smith, Nita Jo Bullington and Charles "Punk" Smith.
He is survived by: his children, Toni (Rodger Voorhies), Donna (John Callaghan), Michael Smith and Keith; his daughter-in-law Diane Smith; and his grandchildren, Eve, Justin Dowling, Zane, Meghan Smith, Jackson Hammond, Caroline Hammond, Kyle Hammond, Willa Voorhies, Emily, Ed Chilton, Anna, Kinley Jones and Jessica Smith. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
