He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Grady Elzavan, Elizabeth McHone Johnson, Arvie and Grace Carter Stewart. He is survived by: his parents, Grady Edward and Carol Stewart Johnson; his wife Christine Arbaugh Johnson; his children, Elizabeth Hicks, Sherri Grose (James), Jessica Bannister (Ian Huels), Jennifer Hall (Brett) and Austin Newman; and his brother Michael S. Johnson. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to White Plains Christian School, 609 Old US 601, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
