It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Mabel Thompson of Mount Airy, North Carolina, who passed away on July 2, 2020, at the age of 94, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Clearn Marshall and Loudelia Largen Marshall; her husband Harry Benton Thompson; her son Bruce Delano Thompson; and her siblings, Earnie Quesinberry Edwards, Mary Elizabeth Mankins, Haley Eveline Fowler, Hattie Belle Bowman, Nellie Bowman, Sherman Marshall, Jesse Wilbert Marshall, Cannie Alexander Marshall, Frank Marshall and Clinton Marshall.
She is survived by: her daughters, Joan Thompson Hardin of Mount Airy and Margaret of Mount Airy; her son-in-law Phillip Easter of Mount Airy; her son Matthew; her daughter-in-law Cynthia Thompson of Mount Airy; and her grandchildren, Jewel, Joshua Jones, Michelle and Michael Payne. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Respecting the current limitations of numbers for public gatherings at this time (COVID-19), a graveside service will be held Saturday, July 4, 2020, at 11:00 AM at Doe Run Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Joe Smith officiating.
Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to the Doe Run Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 903 Doe Run Road, Ararat, VA 24053.
