She was predeceased by: her parents, William Fred and Eva Gentry Atkinson; her husband Donald Ray Thompson; and her siblings-in-law, Grant Martin, Lon Williford, William Parson, Opal Thompson, James Edward "Ed" Thompson and Roger Lee Thompson.
She is survived by: her daughters, Sherri Thompson of Mount Airy and Cathy of Mount Airy; her son-in-law Tim Howlett of Mount Airy; her grandchildren, Travis (Rhonda Howlett), Tyler Howlett of Frederick, MD, Timon (Meghan Howlett) of Mount Airy and Tanna Howlett Marsh of Mount Airy; her great grandchildren, Tytus Thompson Lorenz-Howlett, Tucker Ray Howlett, Taylor Marie Howlett, Trenton William Howlett, Traelyn Brae Howlett, Terrah Gwynn Howlett, Emma Marie Howlett, Donald Michael Howlett, MacKinzie Marie Marsh, Tobias Gentry Marsh and Tessa Lynn Howlett; her siblings, June Martin of Mount Airy, Kay Williford of Indian Land, SC and Ashburn "Doc"; and her siblings-in-law, Anna Atkinson of Thelma, KY, Alta of Mount Airy, Jimmy Johnson of Mount Airy and Jenny Cockerham of Mount Airy. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Due to the limitations of numbers for public gatherings at this time (COVID-19), a private graveside service will be held at Skyline Memory Gardens.
