She was predeceased by: her parents, Luther Herman Tucker and Annie Inman Tucker Jenkins; her husband Bobby Eugene Slate; her sons, Bobby Dean Slate and Vestal Leon Slate; her sisters, Cora Lee Edwards, Arlene Heller, JoAnn Tate, Helen Hudson and Gladys McCormick; and her grandson William Leonard Cook.
She is survived by: her daughter Lisa; her son-in-law W. L. Cook of Mount Airy; her son Gary Slate of Mount Airy; her daughters-in-law, Teresa Slate Tesh (Mark) of Mount Airy and Chriss Slate of Mount Airy; her grandchildren, Kristen, Damon Sprinkle, Candace, Eric Poole, Bradley, Ashleigh Slate, Tabitha Pannebaker, Shannon Cook, Olivia Bryant, April Hiatt, TaKellia and Steve Atwood; her brother Bill Tucker of Mount Airy; and her close friend Faye Edwards of Mount Airy. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
