With heavy hearts, we announce the death of John David Haynes (Mount Airy, North Carolina), born in Surry, Virginia, who passed away on December 13, 2023 at the age of 88. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond Theodore and Hallie Atkins Haynes; and his brother Larry Haynes. He is survived by: his wife Louise Luther Haynes; his sons, Christopher Keith Haynes (Angela Scofield) and John David Haynes, Jr. (Elizabeth Kelk); his grandchildren, Emily Haynes, Ryan Toole and Braeden Haynes; his great grandchild Landon Haynes; and his sister Jerri Hemric.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Surry County Schools Educational Foundation, 209 North Crutchfield Street, Dobson, NC 27017; or the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017.
