He was predeceased by: his parents, John Astor Bryant, Sr. and Ella Leftwich Bryant; and his siblings, Ruth Davis, Shasta, Lester Wade, Bill and Larry Dale Bryant.
He is survived by: his wife Claudia McKinney Bryant; his daughter Denise Godwin Whittington; his son-in-law Alan of Wilkesboro, NC; his son John A. Bryant III; his daughter-in-law Deborah of Greensboro, NC.; his grandchildren, Kyle Godwin of Wilmington, NC, Jacob Godwin of California, Valerie Bryant of Greensboro, NC, Sarah A. Whittington-Bala of Florida and Benjamin A. Whittington of Mebane, NC; his sisters-in-law, Jackie Haynes of Mount Airy, NC, Barbara Bryant of Miami, FL and Cleo Bryant of Fargo, ND; his niece Traci Haynes George; and his close friends, Jimmy Kemp and Bill Smith. He is also survived by several other nieces and nephews.
