He was predeceased by: his parents, Lester Jerry and Ila Maude Daniel Dawson; his former wife Betty Jo Johnson Dawson; and his siblings, Opalene Roberts, James and R. J. Dawson.
He is survived by: his wife Hassie Busick Dawson; his daughter Vicky Smith; his stepsons, John Berrier and Wayne Berrier; his grandchildren, Elliott Rodriquez, Maggie Smith and Chloe Smith; his stepgrandchild Chase Berrier; and his sisters, Arlene Heath and Willie Sue Stacknick.
Due to the limitations of numbers for public gatherings (COVID-19), the family will have a private graveside service.
