She was predeceased by: her husband Porter Newman; and her siblings, Willie Sue Shelton, Ernestine Chappell, Garnett Blackburn, Guy Blackburn and Glen Blackburn.
She is survived by: her sons-in-law, Tina Gause of Mount Airy, Stephen Gause of Mount Airy, Renee Francis of Mount Airy and Michael Francis of Mount Airy; her grandchildren, Carol Gause, Kendal Gause, Lauren Francis and Jordan Francis; and her brother Donald Roy Blackburn of Mint Hill, NC.
