It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Helen Watson of Mount Airy, North Carolina, born in Surry, Virginia, who passed away on August 6, 2020, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Olen Hawks and Sadie Odell Hawks; and her husband John Martin "J. M.". She is survived by: her goddaughter Marguerite Newman Burcham of Lowgap; her brother Wilbur Hawks; and her goddaughter Ginger Newman Utley. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
