It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Georgia Simpson Sumner of Mount Airy, North Carolina, born in Surry, Virginia, who passed away on January 16, 2023, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her father Eugene Simpson; her husband Wilford Junior "Bill" Sumner; her son Billy Wayne Sumner (Kimberly Sumner); and her siblings, Roxie Simpson, Thelma Carter, Kathleen East, Vernice Bowman, Eva Durham, Tavie Shumate, Stella Marion, Fred Simpson, Delmar Simpson and Gilbert Simpson.
She is survived by: her daughters, Terry Sumner Davis and Mary; her son-in-law Darrell Danley; her sons, Rickie (Janet Sumner), Jerry (Kathy Sumner) and Bobby Sumner; her grandchildren, Kevin Sumner, Donna Stanley, Tabatha Casstevens, Teirraha Lowe, Deanna Dickens, Zack Deel, Richard Sumner, Ronnie Sumner, Jordan Sumner, Ashley Sumner Gregory, Heather Thompson, Michael Davis, Jr., Taran Beshers, Hunter Danley, Cory Sumner and Courtney Hill; and her sister Shirley Simpson Nichols. She is also survived by several great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren.
