She was predeceased by: her parents, Walter Thornton and Bertha Mae Shupe Beasley; her husband J. L. "Bud" Newman; and her son Delton Leon Newman. She is survived by: her children, Rhonda Fae Riggs of Mount Airy and Walter Kent Newman of Austinville; and her sister Linda Lou Edmonds of Woodlawn. She is also survived by eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family to help with funeral cost.
