He was predeceased by: his parents, Ed Winfield and Tiny Bingman Davis; his brother Harley "Chunk" Davis; and his former wife Alice Juanita "Nita" Davis. He is survived by: his wife Sharon Lee Davis; his sons, Johnny Davis, Mark Davis (Judy), Scott Tesh and Tim Davis (Lysa); his grandchildren, Jennifer Schornstadt (Christian), Elizabeth Williams (Brian), Preston Edward Davis, Stacy Davis DeHart (Chris), Bradley Davis and Eryn Davis Janney (Kevin); and his great grandchildren, Blake DeHart and Estlin Melton Davis.
