He was predeceased by: his mother Martha Lorraine Harrell Tate; and his brother James Tate. He is survived by: his father Edgar "Edd" Tate; his wife Freida Tate; his sons, Dennis "Wayne" Tate, Jr. (Amanda) and Burt Tate (Tracy); his grandchildren, Kendall Tate (Lauren), Garrett Tate (Chloe), Claudia Tate Mauck (Ryan), Allyni Tate Strickland (Landon) and Colton Tate (Maggie Tate); his great grandchildren, Melanie Tate and Preston Wayne Tate; his siblings, Linda Tate Taylor (David), Susie Tate Holt (Norman), Phyllis Tate Martin (Ansley), Valerie Tate Dollyhite (Melvin) and Steve Tate; and his sister-in-law Kitty.
