It is always difficult saying goodbye to someone we love and cherish. Family and friends must say goodbye to their beloved Charles Akers of Mount Airy, North Carolina, born in Surry, Virginia, who passed away at the age of 77, on January 18, 2021. He was predeceased by: his parents, Charlie Lawrence and Nora Jane Jenkins Akers; his former wife Freida Sue Melton Akers; and his brothers, Gary Akers and Larry Akers.

He is survived by: his wife Patsy Turpin Bryant Akers; his daughter Susan; his son-in-law Billy McRorie of Monroe; his son Richard; his daughter-in-law Rhonda Akers of Bessemer City; his stepchildren, Jennifer Freeman of Mount Airy and Bobby Ray Bryant, Jr. (Charlotte Bryant); his brother-in-law Bill Norris of Raleigh; and his brother Jim Akers of Mount Airy. He is also survived by five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

Due to public health concerns, attendees are required to wear a face mask and practice social distancing.

Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
