It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Betty Edwards of Mount Airy, North Carolina, born in Surry, Virginia, who passed away on May 16, 2021, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, John Byrd and Mae Carter Byrd; and her significant other Johnny Cecil Edwards. She is survived by: her sons, Craig (Melinda Edwards) and Derek (Robin Edwards); her grandchildren, Joshua Edwards, Megan Iverson, Chad and Heather Edwards; her great grandchildren, Payton Edwards, Morgan Edwards and Colton Edwards; and her brother-in-law Burley Edwards (Dawn).
In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorial contributions be made to Haymore Baptist Church, 319 Rockford St., Mt. Airy, NC 27030.
