She was predeceased by: her parents, Floyd Fay Avery and Sadie Hulet Avery; her husband Wilbur Delma Hiatt; her children, Ara Noreen Hiatt Roush, John Sterling Hiatt and Floyd Avery Hiatt; her sons-in-law, Bill Roush, Gregory Hiatt and Geoffrey Gentry; and her siblings, Dena Joyce Avery, Chad Avery, Barry Avery and John LeGrande Avery.
She is survived by: her children, Dena Earhart (Keith), Carolyn Gentry, Jennifer Riska (Ray), Janeen Ashcraft (Michael), Gene Hiatt (Jane), Stewart Hiatt (Ann), Alan Hiatt (Karen), Jesse Hiatt (Louise) and Derrik Hiatt (Rachel); her daughters-in-law, Susan Roush and Cynthia Dean (John); and her siblings, Sue Swain and Condon Avery. She is also survived by Her 57 grandchildren, 118 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Thursday, January 2nd 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Moody Funeral Services (206 W Pine St, Mt Airy, NC 27030). A funeral service was held on Friday, January 3rd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (162 Temple Ln, Mt Airy, NC 27030).
