He was predeceased by: his parents, William Caryle Mathis and Mary Davis Mathis; his wife Elizabeth Ann Coleman Mathis; and his siblings, Johnny Mathis, David Mathis, Van Mathis and Vanessa Mathis.
He is survived by: his daughter Vanessa Mathis; his granddaughter Samantha Mathis; his siblings, Bobby Mathis (Wanda), Rev. Douglas Mathis (Debbie) and Louise Hamby; and his sister-in-law Patrice Mathis. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews; and grand nieces and nephews.
