He was predeceased by: his parents, Grant Helbert and Tressie Clyde Miller Pruitt. He is survived by: his children, Joel Pruitt, Jr. of Morganton and Chastity Pruitt (James Byrd) of Lenoir; his siblings, Gerald Pruitt of Wilkesboro, Bill Pruitt (Nancy) of Wilkesboro, Leslie Pruitt of Hudson, Arby Pruitt of Sawmills, Jennifer Pruitt of Conover, Bem Pruitt of Sawmills, Becky Harbison of Granite Falls and Clarcie Pruitt of Hudson; and his grandchildren, Kami Byrd, Alivia Pruitt, Kaitlyn Pruitt and Jasmine Byrd.
