It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Jim Cates (Morganton, North Carolina), who passed away on June 8, 2022, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, John Driver Cates and Iris Swann Bryan Cates; his wife Georgia Cates; his son Chris Cates; and his brother Bobby Cates.
He is survived by: his son Bryan Cates (Stephanie); his grandchildren, Wilson, Michael, Coral and Joy Cates; and his siblings, Bill Cates (Filomena) and Iris Ragland. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
