Janice B. Vernon Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Janice B. Vernon in Morganton, North Carolina, born in Columbus, Georgia, who passed away on October 7, 2021, at the age of 83, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her husband Dr. James Taylor Vernon; her son Jonathan Kirk (Nancy); her siblings, Dolores Brown, Raymond Branch and Irvin Branch (Linda); and her parent Clifford Branch.

She is survived by: her children, Jinny Kirk Fletcher (Bill) of East Bend, NC, Amy Kirk Ruggles of Morganton and Scott Kirk (Mina) of Augusta, GA.; her grandchildren, Eva Tomko (Ricky), Jonathan Kirk, Andrew Ruggles (Ana), James Ruggles (Alina), Alyssa Kirk Kelley (Wesley), Ruth Norman (Travis), Jeremiah Kirk (Krystal), Samantha Kirk, David Ruggles and Isabella-Julliette Kirk; her brother Neil Branch (Margo) of Bonita, CA; and her close friend Digna Brittain. She is also survived by her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Janice requested that those in attendance wear face coverings to better protect her loved ones from COVID.

In lieu of flowers, she requested donations be submitted to AMOREM (formerly Burke Hospice and Palliative Care) in Valdese, The Outreach Center, or The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
