He was predeceased by: his father Jacob Shuford Burns; his siblings, Afton Burns Griffin, Jack E. Burns, Bill S. Burns, Janet Burns Clevenger and Joan Burns Treadway; and his son-in-law Fred Brown.
He is survived by: his wife Linda Berry Burns; his children, Bryan D. Burns (Lisa) and Connie Burns Brown; his grandsons, Jason D. Burns (Alexa) and Justin P. Brown; his great grandchildren, Aubrey E. Burns and Beckett D. Burns; and his caregivers, Kenya A. Smith, Irene D'Silva and Tamara Bullaro. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and extended family.
