It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Gerald Carlot Smith (Morganton, North Carolina), who passed away on October 20, 2022, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his father Gravis Marshall Smith; and his siblings, Earl Smith and Frances Goins. He is survived by: his wife Margaret Gertrude Newton Smith; his children, Deborah Smith Griffin and Timothy Gerald Smith (Rhonda); his grandchildren, Caroline Wyatte (Ethan), Brittany Vinesett and Morgan Angeline Smith; his great grandchildren, River Grace Wyatte and Willow Faith Wyatte; and his siblings, Mattie Poteat, Edith Riles, Max Carroll Smith and Ruth Brittain. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
