She was predeceased by: her parents, Josephus Deal and Evelyn Deal; her husband Bobby Philyaw; and her sister Shirley Flowers. She is survived by: her children, Stephanie Philyaw Davis of Morehead City and John David Philyaw of Chocowinity; her siblings, Julia Capshaw (Ron) of New Bern, Joleene Lupton (Mack) of Raleigh, Brenda Deal of Newport and Myron Francis Deal (Robin) of Apex; her grandsons, Nicholas Davis of Clayton and John Ross Philyaw of Bayboro; her daughter-in-law Lisa Bain of Bayboro; and her grandchildren-in-law, Julia Bain and Karleigh Bain. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
