He is survived by: his wife Lola Sykes; his children, Julie Sykes and Joseph "Jay" William Sykes Jr.; his grandchildren, Mikayla Sykes, Matthew Morton and Avida Sykes; and his brothers, James Sykes and Jodie Sykes. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
