It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Jelder Thompson of Morehead City, North Carolina, born in Clarkton, North Carolina, who passed away on August 13, 2020, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Preston Thompson and Maizie Thompson; his siblings, Gayle Suggs, Ann Dulin, David, Douglas and Derwood Thompson; and his grandson Tony Thompson Jr..
He is survived by: his wife Eunice Delcena Thompson; his children, Fay Phillips (Michael) of Winston Salem, Kay McCaskill (Carr) of Winston Salem, Gary Thompson (Nancy) of Newport and Tony Thompson of Mocksville, NC; and his sister Alma Jean Smith of Charlotte. He is also survived by "Papa" he has 9 surviving grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
However, in order to provide social distancing, we ask friends to remain in their cars, the service will be broadcasted through a sound system.
