She is survived by: her children, Kathryn Lewis Wagner (Lee) of Morehead City, NC, Robert James (Smokey), NJ, Michael Joseph Lewis (Susan) of Hilton Head, SC, Gary Charles Lewis, John Steven Lewis (Yong Hui) of Newport, NC, Paul Noel Lewis (Lisa) of Clayton, NC and Joyce Lewis Kohn (Scott Sullivan) of Raleigh, NC; her grandchildren, Helene Van Meter (Rob), Sonya Ottens of Houston, Marc Lewis (Jen) of Butler, Christopher Lewis of Logan, Daniel Lewis, Matthew Lewis (Ashley), James "Jimbo" Lewis (Alaina), Laura Lynn Foltz, Virginia, Carter Lewis, Cameron Lewis, Anna Kate Lewis, Joshua Kohn and Zachary Kohn of Raleigh, NC; her great great grandchildren, Hunter Lee Best, Kaili Ottens, Michael Lewis, Sandra Lewis, J. J. Wilson, Brandon Wilson, Bryson Wilson and Virginia; her siblings, David Hughes and Mary Ellen Hughes (Mel); her nieces, Sally Davis of Morehead City, N. C. and Kate Short of Beaufort; her nephew Larry Davis of Charlotte, N. C.; and her cousins, Warren and Henry Davis of Beaufort, N. C.

For several years, Jean generously donated her time to run the kitchen at St. Egbert's during the Knights of Columbus weekly Bingo fundraiser and served as the volunteer accountant at St. Egbert's School.

“My deepest condolences to her family and friends. Her smile could light up the room. My first friend at St. Egbert Catholic Church, about 40 years ago. Jean was so devout and humble. We prayed together and shared all our joys and sorrows. A golden friend, who will be sorely missed. I also worked for her at one time, lovely employer. How blessed was I to have her in my life. Rest in peace Jean.”
