He was predeceased by: his mother Mary E. Rountree; his wife Kathleen Veldon Lewis (Kay); and his son Horace Elton Rountree, Jr. of Morehead City. He is survived by: his sons, William R. Rountree of Morehead City, Dr. Rodney A. Rountree of East Falmouth, MA, Peter A. Rountree of Newport and David A. Rountree (John K. Rountree). He is also survived by nine grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.
