He is survived by: his children, Carrie P. Young (Charles Edwards) of Morehead City, Gerald V. Phillips Jr. (Carol) of Youngsville, NC and David C. Phillips (Linda) of Newport; and his grandchildren, Dr. Jason Elliot, Johnathan Elliot, MD, Gerald V. Phillips III, Mark A. Phillips, Sarah P. Morris and Megan P. Atkinson. He is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
