He was predeceased by: his father Roland Fields; and his sisters, Mary Bare and Marie Guerrero. He is survived by: his children, Angela "Angie" Harris (Michael) of Raleigh, Bonnie Bare of Raleigh and Mark Bare (Kimberly) of Raleigh; his stepdaughters, Jessica Lambert of Moravian Falls and Elizabeth Hamby (Scotty) of Moravian Falls; his sisters, Martha Sheets of Roaring River and Margie Mitchell of Moravian Falls; his grandchildren, Anna Nixon and Aspen Harris; and his nieces and nephews, Lisa (Taylor), Joanie "JoJo" Macemore, Paul Sheets, Bobby Sheets, Jamie Sheets and Will Mitchell. He is also survived by his children, grandchildren and all of his family.
