He is survived by: his close friend Rebecca Foster; his sons, Jose Varela Jr. and Joshua Varela; his siblings, Felix, Luz M, Alfredo Varela, Angel, Peggy, Teresa and Crucita Varela; his grandchildren, Sophia and Sebastian Varela; and his stepchildren, Ashley Vickers and Devin Martinez.
