He was predeceased by: his parents, Grady A. Canter and Mae Hayes Canter; his wife Ruth Bridges Canter; and his siblings, Wilma Bennett, Mildred Canter, Pete Canter, Reginald Canter and Jay Canter.
He is survived by: his daughter Rachel Yarbrough (Jack) of Greensboro; and his grandchildren, Ryan Yarbrough of Greensboro and Rebecca "Scout" Yarbrough of Alexandria. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
