She was predeceased by: her parents, John Minton and Laura Tedder Minton; her husband Ralph Warren Smithey; her son Jimmy Dean Smithey; her grandson Randy Pruitt; and her brother Johnny "J. D.".
She is survived by: her sisters, Grace Lovette, Christine Smithey, Geneva Minton, Virginia Minton, Mildred Smithey and Dorothy Wayne; her children, Norma Jean Brown (Jim) of Moravian Falls, Judy West (Michael) of North Wilkesboro, Ronnie Smithey of Moravian Falls, Kathy Goforth (Randy) of Ferguson and Nancy Russell (Keith) of Moravian Falls; her grandchildren, Tracy Brown, Steven Brown, Ricky Pruitt (Leslie), Perry Smithey, Ava Smithey, Cindy Kerley (Jeremiah), David Goforth (Kaitlyn) and Curtis Smithey; and her brother Bud Minton of Moravian Falls. She is also survived by fourteen great grandchildren; and six great great grandchildren.
