He was predeceased by: his parents, Romas Flate and Amanda Tedder Parker; his siblings, Margaret Harris (Fred), Dorothy Leonard, Mabel Church (Max) and Eugene Parker; and his nephew Michael Leonard.
He is survived by: his wife Gayle Childers Parker; his daughter Cara Parker (Albert Biggs); his sister Gwendolyn White (John); his sister-in-law Nell Parker; and his nieces and nephews, Evelyn Allen (Parks), Patsy Johnson (Tim), Regina Brown (Craig), Howard Harris (Kay), Jerry Leonard (Denny), Darryl Church (Donna), Gary Church (Tammy), Kevin Church (Laura) and Aaron White (Kim). He is also survived by many great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.
Visitation was held on Thursday, September 12th 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM at the Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home (270 Armory Rd, North Wilkesboro, NC 28659). A funeral service was held on Thursday, September 12th 2024 at 3:00 PM at the Reins-Sturdivant Chapel (270 Armory Rd, North Wilkesboro, NC 28659). An entombment was held on Thursday, September 12th 2024 at the Scenic Memorial Gardens (545 Moravian Falls Rd, Wilkesboro, NC 28697).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Brushy Mountain Ruritan Club, 1150 Brushy Mtn.
