He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Speaks and Susie Speaks; and his siblings, Ruth Dugas, Laura Ashley, Ruby Matthews and Edward Speaks.
He is survived by: his wife Linda of Mooresville; his son Greg (Melinda) of Lowell; his grandchildren, Brittney, Justin and Gregory; his great grandchildren, Brody, Lola and Landon; his son Steve (Debby) of Mooresville; his grandchildren, Sam and Mary; his daughter Caryn; and his pets, Annie and Pepper.
In lieu of flowers, the Speaks family is asking that donations be made to Richard's most loved causes, the Wounded Warrior Project, St. Jude, ASPCA and Hospice & Palliative Care of Iredell County.
