It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Peyton Tarry (Mooresville, North Carolina), who passed away on November 19, 2024, at the age of 93, leaving to mourn family and friends. As we bid adieu to Peyton's earthly form, let us not dwell on the void left in her wake, but rather celebrate the legacy of love and inspiration Peyton has bequeathed us. For though she may have departed from our sight, her spirit remains a timeless beacon, guiding loved ones through the labyrinth of life's journey.

She was predeceased by: her parents, William Wallace Clements and Anne Miller Clements; her husband Dr. William B. Tarry, Jr.; and her son William B. Tarry, III. She is survived by: her children, Sallie Tarry Kerr (Martin) of Davidson, N. C., Dr. Wallace Clements Tarry (Christina) of Davidson, N. C. and Albin Rawlins Tarry (Ellen) of Pinehurst, N. C; and her daughter-in-law Tracy Tarry of Weaverville, N. C.. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and one great grandson.

A graveside service was held on Saturday, November 23rd 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Nutbush Presbyterian Church (12480 NC-39, Henderson, NC 27537).

Memorial contributions may be made to the Oxford Presbyterian Church, the North Carolina Room of the Richard H. Thornton Library or a charity of the donor's choice.

“I was so sorry to hear this! I had the privilege and honor of getting to know Peyton through duplicate bridge. She is undoubtedly one of the sweetest persons I know. One time I said to her while playing bridge, “Why didn’t you double her?” She said, “Oh I could never do that, she is my friend.” In the last several months, I enjoyed making pimento cheese and chocolate candy for her, and she was so appreciative!! I enjoyed our phone conversations and visits. I will miss her greatly!!!”
