He was predeceased by: his siblings, Mary Mayhew of Nancy Plyler, Cooper, Robert and Jim Carpenter; and his grandson Aaron Carpenter.
He is survived by: his wife Peggy Wilhelm Carpenter; his children, Ronda Carpenter (Bobby Compton), Robert "Robbie" Carpenter, Johnny Carpenter (Paige Clayton) and Steve "Stevie" Carpenter (Trisha); his sisters, Sylvia Mills (Mick) and Millie Orbison; his grandchildren, Chris Stutts (Angela), Kevin Stutts, Clint Carpenter and Hannah Carpenter; and his great grandchildren, Kaylee, Anna, Aubrey and Gavin.
